Pinball Expo will be expanding its show floor to 100,000 sq. ft. and celebrating its 40th year as the longest running pinball show. The event, which takes place Oct. 15-19th, will be combining forces with Video Game Summit, which will be celebrating its 21st year in July. Video Game Summit first became involved unofficially with Pinball Expo in 2019, with the introduction of the Retro Video Game Section that year.
Rob Berk started Pinball Expo in November 1985 for the people who love the game, and since then the show grew bigger and bigger. In 2019, with help with Todd Friedman – the Co-Promoter of Video Game Summit, Pinball Expo introduced the Retro Video Game Section.
Dan Iacovelli started Video Game Summit on the heels of the last stand-alone Atari Jaguar Festival, of which AVC Online been involved with since 1995. In 2003, the Jaguar Festival along with several other retro gaming shows were combined, and on July 2003 Video Game Summit was born.
Rob Berk, Dan Iacovelli and Todd Friedman, have agreed to join forces this year to make a great combo show, with Pinball Expo running the Pinball and Arcade Section and Video Game Summit running the Retro Video Game Section. As both shows are celebrating a big anniversary it seems fitting to celebrate together.
“Besides running the Retro Video Game Section with Vendors and Guest, VGS can help promote the show” said Dan Iacovelli, VGS Head Promoter. “We send out tweets via our X/Twitter account, post on our Facebook Page and on AVC Online Facebook Group, have a link to Pinball Expo on the VGS Website with a slide image as well, it will also be on AVC Online website as well – not to mention flyers” as Dan Iacovelli states.
Dan goes on to explain “That is not considered a merger of the two shows, just helping out plus we are also looking for volunteers to help with the Retro Video Game Section at Pinball Expo.”
